Project: Karachi Path Finder

Overview

Karachi Path Finder was desgined with the aim of assisting its users in reaching to various locations inside Karachi. It asks users to provide source and destination locations and then finds a path using the A* search algorithm. The project makes use of Google Map API and is written in Java and Javascript. The Alpha version of the software was released in April 2009.

>When the project was initiated the Google Maps for Karachi was not in a matured state and there was no path finding feature available. Since the start of the KPF project, Google Maps has been populated with the major locations inside Karachi and now it also supports path finding. The Karachi Path Finder project, therefore, has been shelved for the time being, although it is still a useful tool to teach A* search in the AI class.
